Rapidly becoming known for our bluegrass and Okie musical talents over the past five years, we have decided to push the bar and make 2007 the best ever. We are proud to present one of the world's greatest fiddlers, renowned for many styles including Western Swing and Bluegrass. Mr. Byron Berline will appear live in concert on Friday evening, September 14th at the Chouteau Black Buggy Days Festival. Mr. Berline will be appearing with The Byron Berline Band - one of the most incredible collections of talent in the nation. DO NOT miss this opportunity to bring the family out and enjoy the evening with The Byron Berline Band. Tickets are available for $10/adult, kids 12 and under are free! Saturday we will host a full day of music teaming up with the Green Country Bluegrass Assn.
This year we have a great line-up eager to enthuse and bring smiles to the crowd. Our very own Trading Post Fiddlers will be inspiring as they demonstrate their great accomplishments. They have become quite a phenom as they have been asked to appear at many great events.
BBD will have plenty for your musical interests this year so come on out and be involved in our community while you listen to some of the great talent of this region!
Horsin' Around
If you haven't seen the events of Horsin' Around, you've been missin' out. Corals are set up in Chouteau's Guy Williams City Park and many local competitions via horseback and other livestock are performed before a closer-than-life audience. The competition gets up-close and serious when Black Buggy Day comes around.
It was 8:30 a.m. and the Roosevelt Fiddlers were already getting warmed up for their big performance at BBD. When they finally took the stage they really showed the audience what they had accomplished over the short time that these kids have been learning the skill. Songs like Boil em Cabbage, Rubber Dolly, Allegro, Amazing Grace, Faded Love and more rang out to fill the ears of our entire community. Check out the photos... <click here>
BBD Scores Well The BBD committee is looking forward to the upcoming 2007 Black Buggy Day event. We hope you will plan to spend your day with us as we have many fun and exciting things planned for you! If you have any questions regarding the 2007 BBD, please call the Chouteau Chamber of Commerce at 476-8222. See you there!
BBD Thanks Supporters The BBD commitee would like to thank all of our sponsors. Our primary sponsers for Black Buggy Day 2006 are Chouteau's Bank of Commerce and Cadet Truck Bodies. Without sponsors such as these BBD would not be possible. On behalf of the entire community of Chouteau, surrounding comunities such as Pryor, Inola, Locust Grove, Mazie and Mayes County, we all thank you for your monetary gifts that allow such an exciting event to bring us together. We'll be talking about it for a long time to come.
Already plans are in place getting ready for BBD 2007. If you would like to partcipate as a volunteer or a sponsor of the event call Julie Drumm or John Holden. The BBD committee consists of about 6-8 dedicated, hard-working individuals who do a little bit of planning and brain-storming and ask for no reward in return. True community spirit. If you feel like you have this and want to be in charge of a BBD event next year, contact someone on the committee asap.
It is never too early or too late to become a financial sponsor of the BBD events. The challenge is that just about everything worthwhile takes both money and dedicated work. The good news is that we have a strong and dedicated staff in place to do the work. All we need from our community is volunteers and sponsors. If you feel your role in this community event may be best served by providing the funding necessary to operate, step forward and let us do everything we can to both recognize you as well as construct the best community festival possible. Contact BBD committee members asap at 476-8222!
